Yacht Support Group was founded in 2017 by Paul van Westing. In over a decade of experience as crew on large super yachts Paul worked himself up from Deckhand to Captain building up valuable experience. Supported by a degree in electrical engineering, Paul obtained in-depth knowledge of marine grade technical equipment. Managing projects for numerous yachts as captain and as yacht manager, Paul had the opportunity to work with many different service companies around the world. Since Paul arrived in Mallorca he started working with yachts up to 500 Gross Tonnes and quickly noticed that less crew on smaller vessels have a wider range of responsibilities but can not be expected to have the same knowledge and skills as a larger crew with deck officers, engineers and ETO's, pursers, chefs and sous chefs. This comes at a cost for owners and crew on smaller yachts which need to be complimented by external companies. We strife to bring the Superyacht mindset to the smaller yachts and therefore improving the experience for owner and crew. The long term advantages are clear; fewer unexpected breakdowns, increased resale value, consistency in upkeep throughout crew changes, longevity for crew and ultimately savings on the total expenses.
